How to Pray to the Divine Feminine A Foundry and the Spring Meditation 2003 -2006 © "81 Goddesses" is a prayer of meditative praise to the Divine Feminine. Utilizing a special set of prayer beads, invented specifically for this meditation, participants invoke, praise, and thank the Goddess in her many forms. The Goddesses are grouped into sets of nine, which we call a Muse. Each of the Muses includes the name of a classical Greek muse, then Matriachs or Goddesses from a variety of cultures and religions. You can download either a Word document, or a .pdf with the 81 Goddesses Names here. To start the meditation, we suggest chanting a mantra or chant of your choice in praise of the Goddess. We often begin with OM MANI PADME HUM, the Mantra of Compassion. Start with the end bead Tone OM, the universal sound of creation Sing your chant 81 times, keeping count with the beads. Tone OM when you reach the OM bead. Working around the circle of beads, call the name of the Goddess. Chant, "I/We Invoke You." Repeat for each Goddess. Tone OM when you reach the OM bead. Repeat the circle of beads, this time saying the name of the Goddess and "I/We Praise You." Tone OM when you reach the OM bead. Repeat the circle a third time, saying the name of the Goddess and "I/We Thank You." Tone OM when you reach the OM bead. End the meditation with a round of the chant of your choice. We chant, Om Nama Shiva, a Sanskrit chant meaning "I bow to the God within."
